Babri Masjid demolition case verdict | All 32 accused acquitted

Sadhvi Ritambara, an accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case, arrives the special CBI court premises in Lucknow on Wednesday.

A special court in Lucknow delivered the much-awaited judgment on Wednesday in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case.  All the 32 accused, including BJP veterans L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, have been acquitted. The govt. alerted that fringe elements on both sides might communalise the Babri demolition case verdict.

CBI judge S.K. Yadav had on September 16 directed all the 32 surviving accused to remain present in the court on the day of the judgment. However, L.K. Advani, M.M. Joshi, Uma Bharti and Kalyan Singh are unlikely to be present in the trial court.

The case relates to the razing of the disputed structure in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.

All 32 accused acquitted, says prosecution lawyer

All the 32 accused, including L.K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharti, Satish Pradhan and Mahant Nritya Gopal, have been acquitted in the Babri Masjid demolition case, according to a prosecution lawyer. They were accused of criminal conspiracy.

All of them, including eight BJP leaders, have been acquitted due to lack of evidence.

The over 2,000 page verdict rules that the razing down of Babri Masjid was not a pre-planned event.

News agency ANI reports that L.K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharti, Satish Pradhan and Mahant Nritya Gopal are attending the proceedings via video conferencing.

Delhi Police says keeping tight vigil in national capital

The Delhi Police Wednesday said they will keep a strict vigil in the national capital in view of the judgement in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case which is slated to be announced during the day.

“We will keep a watch on the security aspect across the city,” a senior police officer said.

What did the Supreme Court say on Babri demolition?

The Supreme Court, which kept itself away during the Ayodhya land dispute case hearings from going into the issue of demolition of the disputed structure on December 6, 1992, made a passing remark in its judgement about the event saying it was brought down in a “calculated act.”

The apex court noted that during the pendency of the lawsuits on the disputed land, “the entire structure of the mosque was brought down in a calculated act of destroying a place of public worship“.

“The Muslims have been wrongly deprived of a mosque which had been constructed well over 450 years ago,” a five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi noted in its judgement.

A multi-layered security apparatus was put in place in the vicinity of the Old High Court building.

Wooden barricades were erected near most of the cross sections in the vicinity of the court building, and movement of buses from the Kaisarbagh bus stand diverted.

Vehicular movement on the roads adjoining to the court building was also minimised.

Mediapersons were not allowed to enter the court building. Most of the shops in the vicinity of the courts remained closed in view of the pronouncement of the verdict.

The arguments so far

Babri Masjid demolition case verdict | All 32 accused acquitted

The accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case did not produce any witness from their side while only one of them, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh, submitted documentary evidence in his defence, lawyers associated with the trial said.

While it is common for the defence side to not produce many witnesses in criminal cases, the court has examined 351 witnesses from the prosecution side in all, over the course of three decades.

Mr. Advani and other top BJP-VHP leaders are accused of being present on the dais some distance away from the Babri Masjid, and exhorting the kar sevaks to demolish the structure.

Mr. Joshi and Mr. Advani had earlier recorded their statements in the case via video conferencing. They had denied the charges against them while testifying.

Pleading innocence, Mr. Kalyan Singh had accused the Congress government at the Centre of implicating him in the case on baseless allegations due to political vendetta. He was the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh when the demolition happened. P.V. Narasimha Rao headed a minority Congress government in the Centre then.

Ms. Bharti had expressed pride that she was a part of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

BJP veterans L.K. Advani, M.M. Joshi, Uma Bharti and Kalyan Singh, all accused in the Babri mosque demolition case, are unlikely to be present in the trial court on Wednesday at the time of delivery of verdict in the matter.

Their advocate K.K. Mishra also said that Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas chief, Nritya Gopal Das, too is unlikely to be present in the CBI special court here.

Of the other accused Vinay Katiyar, Dharamdas, Vedanti, Lallu Singh, Champat Rai and Pawan Pandey have reached Lucknow ahead of the pronouncement of the verdict.

Two main crimes

A total of 49 FIRs had been filed in the case but the case deals with two main crimes. The first crime (no. 197 of 1992) was alleged against lakhs of kar sevaks on charges of dacoity, robbery, causing of hurt, injuring and defiling places of public worship, promoting enmity between two groups on grounds of religion and so on.

The second FIR (no. 198) was lodged against eight persons: Mr. Advani, Ms. Bharti, Mr. Katiyar, Mr. Joshi, Ms. Ritambara, Ashok Singhal (VHP leader), Giriraj Kishore and V.H. Dalmia. Mr. Singhal and Mr. Kishore are now longer alive.

Uma BhartiPrefer to hang than seek bail in Babri case: Bharti

Uma Bharti

Former Union Minister Uma Bharti, one of the senior BJP leaders facing a verdict on September 30 in the Babri Masjid demolition case being heard in a special CBI court, has said that she would “prefer to hang than seek bail” in the case, if found guilty.

In an emotional letter written to BJP president J.P. Nadda, dated September 26, the day he announced his new team of office-bearers (dropping her as party vice-president), she said that her decision not to seek bail if found guilty in the case may make him (Mr. Nadda) exclude her from his team, but that would be the latter’s decision.

“I am proud of my participation in the Ayodhya movement and seeking bail would, I believe dilute this participating. Even if I have [to] hang for having participated, it will be acceptable to me. In such circumstances whether or not you would want to keep me in your team is for you to consider,” she wrote.

States told to strengthen security in communally sensitive districts

On the watch: Security was strengthened at the Erode Railway station in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday ahead of the verdict in the Babri Masjid case. M. GOVARTHAN M_GOVARTHAN

The Centre has alerted all States to strengthen security arrangements in communally hyper-sensitive and sensitive districts to prevent possible clashes post the judgment in the Babri Masjid demolition case by a special court for CBI cases in Lucknow on September 30.

In an alert, the Union Government said that the judgment could have an impact on the law and order situation, as fringe elements on both sides might communalise the verdict. According to the alert, many Muslim organisations, unhappy with the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit case, were hoping that justice could still be done by convicting the accused in the demolition case. They might resort to protests if the verdict was not what they were hoping for, it said.

The alert claimed that while some radical groups were looking for an opportunity to revive the anti-CAA/NRC/NPR agitations in the country, Hindu organisations were hopeful that the accused in the demolition case would be acquitted.

Since the situation was under strain in some States owing to communal issues, State governments should intensify security in sensitive districts and keep a close watch on provocative content in the social media, the Centre said.

Babri demolition verdict on Advani, others today

The govt. alerted that fringe elements on both sides might communalise the Babri demolition case verdict.

A special CBI court here will decide on Wednesday if senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani and 31 others — many of them linked to the Sangh Parivar — are guilty of instigating a mob of kar sevaks under a criminal conspiracy to bring down the Babri Masjid.

The Mughal-era mosque was demolished almost 28 years ago on December 6, 1992, when the VHP-BJP-RSS combine led a Ram Janmabhoomi movement across several parts of the country.

The accused include Mr. Advani, his BJP colleagues Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti, Kalyan Singh, Lallu Singh, Sakshi Maharaj and Vinay Katiyar, and several others, such as Sadhvi Ritambara and Mahant Nritya Gopal Das. Many of the accused are former or present Members of Parliament or members of State Legislatures.

Mr. Kalyan Singh was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh when the mosque was demolished. According to lawyers connected with the trial, he was the only accused to submit documentary evidence in his defence. None of the accused produced witness in their defence. On the other hand, 351 prosecution witnesses, many of them journalists, were examined during the trial.

Redefining Beauty: Top 7 Indian Plus Models

Beauty standards are changing as we speak. What was considered perfect-looking and gorgeous 10 years ago is totally different now. Each year some new feature comes up that makes women tweak their appearance just a little bit to match the new trend. Yet lately there’s been a positive shift towards natural beauty in fashion industry. This means less pressure on ladies to look skinny and bony both on catwalks and in real life. More plus models are appearing in fashion magazines and shops, reminding everyone of the diversity of female body shapes and personalities. As for India, one of its main beauty standards has always been a voluptuous woman, whose curves were a sign of health, wealth, and prosperity. Don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with chocolate, and if you love a rich chocolate cake with chocolate icing – more power to you. But there are some of us who want other, more unusual flavors in our desserts. So if you’re willing to experiment and want to explore different dessert options here are some desserts that are made with herbs. Get ready for an explosion of flavor and we hope you can find a new favourite amongst these or at least something that will make you want to try and recreate it at home.

1. Lemon Herb Shortbread Cookies

If you like lemon shortbread you will probably love these too. They have that comforting classic shortbread cookie texture, but the flavour is definitely elevated thanks to herbs. The most common herbs to use for these kinds of cookies are rosemary, thyme, sage or even earl grey tea leaves.

2. Peach Basil Galette

Galettes are great for those who don’t like messing about with pie crusts. They’re easier to make and have that rustic home-made look to them. And of course, you can use absolutely anything as filling, but peach and basil is a surprisingly delicious combo.

3. Lemon Honey Thyme Bars

Lemon and honey are a match made in heaven, but once you add thyme to it, suddenly it’s a whole other ball game. The herbs just make it so much more interesting and sophisticated in flavor. You have to give these a try.

4. Chocolate Mint Fudge

We’re not actually against chocolate, you know? Chocolate combined with herbs can yield some very yummy results. And since chocolate chip mint ice-cream is a favourite for many, why not try a chocolate mint fudge? You’ll be surprised by how good it is.

5. Mint Panna Cotta

Speaking of mint, it’s a herb, right? Well if you think you’re not a huge fan of panna cotta you have to try the mint one before you fully make up your mind and decide to be a panna cotta hater. Because it might just sway you.

6. Apple Rosemary Pie

Apple pie is a classic for a reason, but have you tried adding rosemary to the mix? Suddenly an age-old recipe starts sparking with new flavors and it’s better than ever. It’s actually impressive what a little bit of rosemary can do to such a seemingly boring dessert.

7. Cherry and Thyme Clafoutis

This is a French dessert, so you already know it’s going to be delectable. The French really know how to combine flavors in a great way. But what you might be surprised by is that it’s even easier to make than cherry pie. It’s a one pan cake that’s sweet and tart at the same time.

8. Parsley Cake

Yeah, it sounds weird, and we’re pretty sure most of you have never even heard of it, much less tasted it. But don’t knock it till you try it. It’s definitely one of the most unique desserts, some might say it one of those desserts that are an “acquired taste”, but it’s actually quite delicious.

9. Sweet Corn Cilantro Ice-Cream

So obviously this isn’t for everyone, definitely not for the cilantro haters who say it tastes like soap to them. But if you’re a cilantro lover, then you should definitely give it a go. Sweet corn is actually a great ice-cream flair and if you haven’t tried it you’re missing out. It’s one of those unexpected things that you’re hesitant to try but then you’re immediately hooked.

10. Salted Thyme Chocolate Chunk Cookies

So you know how salted caramel became a huge thing recently? And you probably have heard that adding salt flakes to chocolate desserts and cookies makes them even more delicious? Well let’s just say thyme in chocolate chunk cookies is the secret ingredient you never expected to work but, oh boy, it sure does.

Indian Government Confirms PUBG MOBILE Ban Will Remain, PUBG Corp. is in Talks With Reliance Jio

A senior government official in India has confirmed that the ban on PUBG MOBILE will not be lifted anytime soon, though the official cited a different reason for the ban remaining in place: the violent nature of the game.

The unnamed official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the matter told Reuters that PUBG Corp. severing ties with Chinese publisher Tencent Games will not change anything anytime soon, and that the ban remains due to complaints about its violent content.

“The violent nature of the game has been the cause of many complaints from all quarters,” the source told Reuters. “That does not change with the change in ownership rights.”

A PUBG Corp. spokesperson also confirmed that the company has been in talks with Indian telecom Reliance Jio, but those talks are ongoing.

“We had initial talks with Jio Platforms to seek for cooperation opportunities, but nothing has been decided yet,” the PUBG spokeswoman told Reuters.

Earlier this week reports surfaced that talks were ongoing with the  Mumbai-based telecom company, though both PUBG Corp. and Reliance declined comment at the time.  Also this week, a report noted that another government official said that India would not lift its ban on PUBG MOBILE and was not in active discussions with stakeholders of the game.

PUBG MOBILE and 117 other Chinese apps were banned from iOS and Android mobile app stores on Sept. 1. This ban followed a June 15 ban on 59 Chinese apps including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Clash of Kings. Call of Duty Mobile was one of the few games with ties to Tencent that did not get banned in India.

All of the Chinese apps removed from iOS and Android app stores were targeted because of escalating border tensions between India and China.

PUBG MOBILE is one of the biggest esports in the country and one of only a handful of properties with a vibrant ecosystem of esports teams, players, tournament organizers, endemic and on-endemic sponsors, and partners committed to the game.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this report referred to “Reliance Jio” as “Reliant Jio” in the title and the body of the story. The story has been updated with a correction.

4 Ways to Improve Your Website Speed

What’s the perfect load time for your website? According to the Conversion XL Institute, 47% of web users expect a site to load in two seconds or less and 57% of visitors say they’ll leave a web page that takes three seconds or more to load.

Forget about conversions. If your website fails to load quickly (ideally, in about three seconds), then it risks losing visitors before they can even think about completing your website’s goal.

Good news: you can make adjustments to your website and radically increase its speed. Here are 4 ways to do it.

1. Analyze Your Website Speed on Google PageSpeed Insights.

Before you change things on your site, you need to know exactly what’s slowing it down. Google offers an easy-to-use PageSpeed Tool called Insights. To get started, type in your URL and click Analyze.

PageSpeed Insights will generate a two-page report detailing your site’s page speed and optimization on mobile devices and desktops. On the top half of the report, you’ll find specific recommendations to boost loading speed. Some of these suggestions may be technical, such as eliminating render-blocking Javascript and CSS, while others will be simple, such as formatting and compressing images to save data.

Don’t let this report damper your spirits. Check the bottom half of the report to see which optimizations are already present. It will remind you that some of your site is working seamlessly!

At each of the page speed and optimization suggestions, click the drop-down link that says, “Show how to fix.” Google will have produced a list of files or script to change. It also will provide links to help articles detailing how to make the prescripted changes. Address each of PageSpeed Insight’s recommendations, which may take days to fix, and then test your URL again.

2. Do a Compression Audit with GIDNetwork.

It should be a goal for each web page on your site to be under 100KB. Anything bigger than that will load very, very slowly. The best way to cut down on page size is to systematically reduce the file size of each page’s photos, graphics, and content.

To get a clear idea of how much you need to compress, perform a compression audit with a free tool like GIDNetwork’s GZip Test. Just like you did with PageSpeed Insights, type in the URL of your website and click Analyze.

GIDNetwork will produce a report that explains whether or not your site has been compressed, how much data the page uses in bytes, and what percentage of the web page has been compressed. Do this with each web page on your site. It will give you a baseline for how much you need to compress.

Unless you have a background in coding, don’t attempt to compress your website yourself. Outsource it to a free data compression program, like GNU Project’s Gzip, to enable compression. If you have a WordPress-hosted site, check the box that reads, “Enable HTTP (gzip) compression) in W3 Total Cache. If you have an HTML site, open your site’s .htaccessfile, copy the gzip HTML code, and paste it into the .htaccessfile.

Compression tools like Gzip will do the heavy lifting (or reducing) for you. Once the compression has been enabled, it will dramatically boost your website speed.

3. Enable Browser Caching on Your Website.

When someone visits your site, they send an HTTP request to the server that hosts your website. Then, their browser has to download all of the files and script on the web page. Even with compressed files on an optimized site, this first visit can take several seconds.

If you enable browser caching on your website, your visitors’ browser doesn’t need to send another HTTP request. Most of the data will already be “cached,” or temporarily stored on your visitor’s browser or hard drive. Therefore, your audience’s second visitor will load almost immediately, accessing the store files and only downloading the components that couldn’t be cached.

Just like you did with compression, you’ll need to set up browser caching through the back door of your website.

If you have a WordPress-hosted website, check the box next to Enable under W3 Total Cache’s Page Cache. Do the same for the Enable box under the setting, Browser Cache. If you have an HTML website, you’ll need to open its .htaccess file, copy the browser caching code, and paste it into the file.

4. Minify Your Files.

Website design templates are simple and user-friendly. They also contain superfluous code, which significantly decreases your website speed. Minification allows you to remove and combine unnecessary lines of code, including HTML, Javascript, and CSS files, without impacting your website’s functionality.

Editing code isn’t easy. Like the other recommendations we’ve made, don’t attempt to do this yourself unless you have a coding background. Download a plugin or use an external minify resource to enable removing and combining HTML, Javascript, and CSS files.

Once enabled, the plugin (or resource) will scan your site’s code for redundant data, white space, unused code, and comments and then remove them. It will also combine files, reducing the overall amount of data your website will have to process.

Minifying your website’s files will significantly decrease the size of code on your site and, therefore, make your site run leaner, smoothly, and faster.

A Fast Website Starts With a Great Hosting Plan and High-Performing Servers

When you sign up for a web hosting plan, do you know what kind of servers your site will be working with?

High-performing servers enable your website to process information quickly. At iPage, we rely on performance load balanced servers and backup your website information at two data center locations. We also offer VPS hosting, dedicated hosting, and WordPress hosting, which facilitates faster response times and website speeds.

Don’t lose conversions and visitor traffic because of your site’s load time. Boost the load time on your website by following these four tips. To learn more about improving your website speed, read our Help article, How To Make Your Website Load Faster.
