Amid coronavirus scare, which has left more than 4,000 people dead, netizens are now hit by the fear of a celestial object. Many on Facebook said that on April 29, the world is going to end as an asteroid as big as the Himalayas is going to hit the planet.

Facebook users like Mularam Bhakar Jaat Osian and Adbhut Anokha Aparajitposted a video clip with a logo of Headlines India about an asteroid approaching the Earth. The caption in Hindi reads that the world will come to an end on April 29.

India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) found this to be a misleading claim. As per NASA, an asteroid, officially called 52768 (1998 OR2), is expected to fly past Earth on April 29, 2020, at a distance of approximately 4 million miles.

This viral claim with the same video has been posted by many Facebook users, which has created panic.

After searching, we found that this news first appeared on Daily Express with the headline Asteroid warning: NASA tracks a 4KM asteroid approach - Could end civilisation if it hits. People on social media started believing that this asteroid will end civilisation. This piece of news has created quite a sensation and confusion among the readers.

However, NASA is constantly monitoring the trajectory speed, and distance of this particular asteroid 52768 (1998 OR2) along with others. NASAdiscoveredthis asteroid in 1998, and since then it is observing its every movement. Every data about this asteroid is available publicly on the website of the Centre for Near Earth Object Studies ( CNEOS).

The twitter account of CNEOS has tweeted that On April 29, asteroid 1998 OR2 will safely pass Earth by 3.9 million miles/6.2 million km. A @Daily_Express article implying there is a "warning" about this asteroid is false.

This asteroid 52768 (1998 OR2) is also not mentioned in the list of Sentry Impact Risk Pageof NASA which monitors the potential future Earth impact events.

This asteroid, with an estimated diameter of 1.8 km to 4.1 km, will fly past Earth from an estimated distance of 3.9 million miles at an estimated speed of around 20000 miles per hour. It means it will come no closer than about 16 times the distance between the Earth and Moon.

रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल राजू घुसपैठ रोधी ग्रिड सीआईजी सैन्य अधिकारियों के साथ नियमित तौर पर बैठक कर रहे हैं ताकि आतंकवादियों (Terrorist) को नियंत्रण रेखा पार करने का कोई मौका नहीं मिले.

श्रीनगर. पाकिस्तान (Pakistan) के कब्जे वाले कश्मीर में करीब 300 आतंकवादी नियंत्रण रेखा पार कर कश्मीर घाटी में घुसपैठ करने के लिए तैयार बैठे हैं, जबकि भारतीय सेना इसे रोकने के लिए अपनी घुसपैठ रोधी ग्रिड और आतंकवाद रोधी रणनीति को और मजबूत करने लिए कदम उठा रही है. कश्मीर (Kashmir) स्थित 15 कोर के कमांडर लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल बीएस राजू ने सैन्य अधिकारियों से कोरोना वायरस महामारी के आलोक में नियंत्रण रेखा पर गश्त के दौरान पर्याप्त एहतियात बरतने को कहा है. क्योंकि घुसपैठियों के इस बीमारी से संक्रमित होने की संभावना से इंकार नहीं किया जा सकता है.

श्रीनगर से मिली रिपोर्ट का हवाला देते हुए राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में अधिकारियों ने बताया कि सेना की क्षेत्र खुफिया इकाई ने सूचना दी है कि प्रतिबंधित आतंकवादी संगठनों हिज्बुल मुजाहिद्दीन और लश्कर ए तैयबा के करीब 300 आतंकवादी सीमा पार से घाटी में घुसपैठ करने के इंतजार में हैं. उन्होंने बताया कि पाकिस्तानी सेना और उसकी खुफिया एजेंसी आईएसआई ने हाल के सप्ताह में नियंत्रण रेखा के पास 16 लॉचपैड सक्रिय किया है. इनमें से कुछ नौशेरा और चम्ब की दुर्गम पहाड़ियों पर भी स्थित हैं. जहां से आतंकवादी आसानी से उत्तर कश्मीर के गुलमर्ग में घुसपैठ करने के लिए जाने जाते हैं.

कोरोना से संक्रमित हो सकते हैं आतंकी

रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल राजू घुसपैठ रोधी ग्रिड सीआईजी को और चाकचौबंद करने के लिए सैन्य अधिकारियों के साथ नियमित तौर पर बैठक कर रहे हैं ताकि आतंकवादियों को नियंत्रण रेखा पार करने का कोई मौका नहीं मिले. अधिकारियों ने बताया कि आतंकियों के साथ नियंत्रण रेखा पर संघर्ष और मुठभेड़ की स्थिति में, सैनिकों से शवों को लेकर अत्यंत सावधानी बरतने को कहा गया है क्योंकि वे कोरोना वायरस से संक्रमित हो सकते हैं.

अथमुकम और डुडनियाल में आतंकियों का जमावड़ा

उन्होंने बताया कि सीआईजी को और अधिक मजबूत बनाया गया है तथा ग्रिड में विभिन्न सुरक्षा एजेंसियों के साथ समन्वय आसानी से होता है. उन्होंने बताया कि सैनिकों की तैनाती में कुछ बदलाव किये गये हैं. उन्होंने बताया कि लीपा घाटी के पार, अथमुकम और डुडनियाल में आतंकवादियों का भारी जमावड़ा देखा गया है. यह वही इलाका है जहां से एक अप्रैल को पांच आतंकवादियों ने घुसपैठ किया था जिन्हें पांच अप्रैल को मार गिराया गया था. इस मुठभेड़ में सेना के पांच जवान भी शहीद हो गये थे.

अधिकारी ने बताया कि दुमेल, सरदारी और धक्की में स्थित लांचपैड सामान्य तौर पर गर्मियों में सक्रिय होते हैं. उन्होंने बताया वहां भी इस समय आतंकवादियों की उपस्थिति देखी गयी है.
